|
|
SharePoints was working fine for all the Macs in this small firm. When I changed the one share being used to be enabled for Windows (SMB) sharing, three things immediately happened:
1) The PC was able to see the contents of the share.
2) Clicking on Network on the Macs showed machines that hadn't been there previously. What particularly concerned me - prior to the problem, the file server showed up correctly as "File Server." After this problem, it still showed up, but also a second time as "File-Server", showing a workgroup name, and asking for a (Windows) password.
3) The Macs no longer had access to the share - it simply doesn't show up.
At the time of the incident, 2 users were connected to the share.
Version: 3.5.1.
I've tried deleting the share; adding it back; rebooting the machine. I've also tried refreshing and update.
Any help is much appreciated... |

| Check your hard drive and repair permissions using disk utility. |

|
|
| At the moment, the drive is part of a raid set, so I can't use the Disk Utility to repair the disk and to verify permissions. I'm thinking I'll have to disable the raid, do the repair and verify on the "primary" drive, then rebuild the raid set. The raid software is SoftRaid version 3.3 - if that poses any problems, please let me know. |
