I have created a share using SharePoints with inherit permissions turned on.  However, when I create a folder in the shared directory while using the the machine sharing the directory, the new folder doesn't have the correct permissions.  What's up?

The inherit permissions button only applies to folders and files created by users connecting to your shared folder from another machine.  If you want to change the permissions of files and folders that are created on the local machine, you need to do one of two things.

1)  Visit Mac OS X Hints and view this hint for 10.3.x or this hint for 10.2.x.

2) Download TinkerTool and use its permissions area to change the default permissions for new files and folders.
